HelpFAQsPAYMENTS AND ONLINE SECURITY
Registration is required to shop on the bookscene.ca site. This process happens with your first order. Logging in before shopping at bookscene.ca will ensure you are not recharged a membership fee (if applicable). This will also allow you to manage your own account information and view your order history. If credit card security is a concern, please be assured that we do not store your credit card information in your account.
Yes. All order information is processed through our secure servers. This security feature scrambles all information before it is sent over the Internet and also makes sure that you are sending it to the right place. When you enter your credit card information on the order form, the encrypted information is automatically transmitted to a credit card gateway for online credit card approval. It's really no different than having a waiter swipe your credit card in a restaurant. Both use standard phone lines, encryption coding, and authorization processes. Once your credit card is validated, we receive an authorization and process the order. Your credit card information is encrypted throughout this entire process and this system is very secure. You need not be concerned about someone accessing your credit card information.
When you begin the Checkout process, you will see "https://" in the prefix of the web page address. You will also find a small lock icon, usually found in the status bar or the address bar — check your browser’s information for exact location. Both of these signify that you have been transferred to our secure server. You will only do this on the site when it is time to enter your credit card number and complete your order. It will not appear on the content portions of the site or in the shopping cart prior to that. This is normal. Security is only required when it is time to enter information that needs to be encrypted, such as a credit card number. Rest assured. bookscene.ca is very concerned about the security of your information and this site uses the best encryption available.
If you still do not feel comfortable giving your credit card number online, please write down the names and item numbers of the products you would like to order and call our Member Assistance Representatives at 1-866-822-8479. We do not recommend sending your credit card number via e-mail.
No, all orders must be charged to a valid credit card.

Your contact information will only be used within Doubleday Canada Limited/Columbia House Canada (see our privacy and security policy for more information). If you wish to be removed from our mailing list at any time, just e-mail us and we will gladly remove your name immediately.

Books on bookscene.ca are available from prices as low as $5.98 and are full-length hardcover editions unless otherwise noted; they may also be altered in size. In order for bookscene.ca to keep our prices low, we may limit quantities of orders per month. Multiple quantities of particular selections may also be limited. All books purchased through bookscene.ca are intended for personal use only and not for resale or any other commercial purpose. If we suspect product is being used other than for personal use, we will cancel your membership. We will charge your credit card when we ship your order. Pre-orders will be charged to your card at the time your order is submitted. If your account becomes overdue or if you do not fulfill your Membership Agreement to purchase three books(priced at $5.98 or above) within each 12-month period you remain a member of bookscene.ca, or if you cancel your membership before fulfilling your purchase commitment for the 12-month period in which you cancelled your membership, we will send you a reminder.
